Wayne Mitchelson is Xtreme Xposure, Wayne has been combining his two life long passions, photography and four-wheel-drive vehicles, since 1988 as a freelance photographer.
Wayne’s first Land Rover had come along a couple of years earlier, he was smitten by the 4x4 vehicle and combined his interest in photography to build a successful career as a commercial freelance photographer.
Wayne has specialised in 4x4s and overland travel ever since and for more than 18 years has worked for the leading British magazines and manufacturers such as Land Rover and Jeep.
Wayne Mitchelson started his professional career as a landscape photographer. His combined love of cars and the outdoors meant photographing vehicles in cinematic landscapes was the natural progression in his career, his passion for all things outdoors is a thread that continues to run through Wayne’s photographic work.
Photographic commissions have taken him to many parts of the world from the frozen mountain peaks of Iceland, the rainforests of South America, the deserts of the Middle East and the high trails of North America's Rocky Mountains. Traveling millions of miles throughout the world means he has amassed a huge portfolio of travel images.
Wayne Mitchelson is no prima donna photographer; boil-in-the bag food cooked on an engine block, bedding down for the night under a car, repairing vehicles and winching through bogs, often found up to his waist in a jungle river full of blood-sucking leeches on the Camel Trophy, or his frozen fingers struggling to operate the shutter at minus 40 in the frozen Arctic, these are things that Wayne accepts are all part of the job. In fact, he’d be the first to confess that he wouldn’t want it any other way.
